Fury Warrior - DPS Guide Empty Fury Warrior - DPS Guide

Post  Luran Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:43 pm

In this article I will describe everything I know and have learned over the years about warriors. Much of you may already know, but there may be developments that will be of benefit.

And basically. For starters we can certainly say that warrior is highly dependent on the gear, which is about what damage is able to do. The weaker gear you have, the easier it can lead to rage starve (when you can not earn enough Rage to keep their rotation). At the beginning the fury warrior does hilarious damage, making it not the most desired class of raids. This all changes when you know your rotation

As fury warrior your only task is not just to do damage. Depending on the raid setup you may need to put Sunder Armor, rotation to prepare for other Warrior Shattering Throw during Bloodlust, to hold the Shout if necessary, all without breaking your normal rotation.

Now builds on the talents. Generally all builds revolve around logical 18/53/0.

Here is my recommended raiding build:

    Glyphs

For Major Glyphs best choice for Fury Warrior is the following:

Glyph of Heroic Strike - You get 10 Rage whenever you crit with HS. Needed because heroic strike is our main dps skill and hitting it consistently. More Rage gain - less chance to get to rage starve.

Glyph of Whirlwind - Cuts cooldown one of our main dps skills. No need for explanation.

Glyph of Cleaving - Often requires Warrior to hit more than one target in such situations is not bad and hitting one another with Cleave

Minor glyphs (down to personal choice, frankly)
    I recommend the following:

Glyph of Battle - prolongs the duration of Battle Shout, thus not having to refresh it so often. Useful for longer encounters.

Glyph of Command - the same, but refers to Commanding Shout.

Glyph of Bloodrage - Removes Health cost of Bloodrage.

    Gems and Enchants

Meta: There are two possible choices here - Relentless Earthsiege Diamond (21 Agility and 3% Increased Critical Strike Damage) or Chaotic Skyflare Diamond (21 Crit Rating and 3% Increased Critical Strike Damage).

Red: Fractured Cardinal Ruby - 20 Armor Penetration Rating
Orange: Fractured Cardinal Ruby - 20 Armor Penetration Rating
Blue:Fractured Cardinal Ruby - 20 Armor Penetration Rating
*until armor penetration cap - 1400, after this you can use:

Orange:20 critical rating / 10 Strength and 10 Crit Rating
    Blue: 20 strength / 20 crit
    Red: 20 strength

    Enchants:

Head Enchant - 50 Attack Power 20 Crit rating
Shoulder Enchant - 40 Attack Power 15 Crit Rating
    Cloak (Back) - 22 Agilit
    Chest - 10 All Stats.
Bracers - 50 Attack Power. 15 Expertise if you are under capacity and there is nowhere else to get it.
    Gloves - 44 Attack Power.
Legs - 75 Attack power 22 Crit Rating.
Boots - The best choice here is Icewalker - 12 Crit 12 Hit rating. If for some reason you have a very critical and quite a hit, you can put 32 Attack Power.
Weapons - The best choice is 2 Berserking

    Rotation

Fury in the rotation is relatively easy -

When boss from 100% to 20% of health -
    1. Bloodthirst (BT)
    2. Whirlwind (WW)
    3. Slam when proc of Bloodsurge (Not used when either of these two skills is not on cd)
    4. Heroic Strike (Rage take off, off-Handy us not Miss st)

When boss from 20% to 0%
    1. Bloodthirst
    2. Whirlwind
    3. Slam Execute (Same - dont plead BT and WW CDs)
    4. Heroic Strike

The rotation looks roughly like this:
    BT WW / BT / / BT WW / BT / / BT WW / BT / / BT WW / BT / / BT WW / BT / / BT etc.
as it is inserted between slam / execute.

    "/" = Free GCD

The difficulty in rotation Warrior to choose when to use Slam if there Bloodsurge proc.
There are three main areas in which we can insert an instant slam:
    1. After the second Bloodthirst, but before you detect a GCD of the first Slam Bloodthirst of the next cycle.
    2. BT first before the next cycle if rolling will expire before the end of WW GCD.
    3. Before the second BT, if you will expire before the end of the BT GCD.

This requires practice rotation. Here are a factor and speed of response latency and player level.

It is time to include the option for Stances dance and using the rend ability. Many Warrior did not enjoy it, but infact it boosts dps. Where it is possible to insert it without pause rotation is where you have 2 free global cds - marked with / / in the rotation. Difficult to achieve with latency higher than normal (~ 100ms). Another situation where this may not be so serious and is easily feasible when using 4 pieces T10 and you have procced bloodsurge.

With this macro, you can rend with one button. By Berserker in Battle Stance - Rend and back into Berserker Stance. Just pumping and return to the Berserk Stans.

    # Showtooltip Rend
/ Cast [stance] Rend; Battle stance
    / Stopcasting
    / Cast Berserker stance

    Rotation in multiple adversaries

    1. Whirlwind
    2. Bloodthirst
    3. Slam (when bloodsurge proc)
    4. Cleave

In battles such as The Lich King becomes priority over Bloodthirst Whirlwind. This means that we have to wait with BT, when jammed with WW. During certain stages of the battle Heroic Strike being replaced by Cleave.

The rotation would look something like this:
WW BT BT WW BT BT WW BT BT WW BT * delay * WW

When using Cleave is better to be careful because Cleave wants 20 rage and unlike heroic strikes you do not have a glyph that gives you rage. Therefore, you can easily rage starve.

    Rage Starving

I do not think to pay so much attention here. This applies mainly for beginners wars that have not yet got the hang of the rotation, so to speak, and Overuse heroic strike, when gear makes this inappropriate. Overall, the level of the gear from ICC, we have rarely would lead to this problem and can use Heroic Strike with every Main Hand hit without compromising their core rotation. If you still have problems, just skip a few Heroic Strikes.

We come to a very important part - it's the choice of gear

It will give guidance to what we should strive as above. Of course, before transferring certain subject you should consider how to rebalance the stats so you can keep you in the armp, hit and expertise cap.

    Slot Item
    Head [Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Helmet]
    Neck [Lana'thel's Chain of Flagellation]
    Shoulder [Sanctified Ymirjar Lord's Shoulderplates]

    Stat caps

    1. Hit rating
The cap is 8%, which means 8% from gear and 1% talent Precision. It is very important to be hit capped. If needed use gems for hit.

    2. Expertise rating
You should care to have 25-26. Drastic can decrease your dps if you are below.

    3. Armor Penetration
This cap is 1400 rating. The main purpose is as a Fury Warrior you have 100% armor penetration all the time ie not rely on procs of trinkets and Enchant (in this case refers to soft cap and lower gear, but we dress quickly and easily, so that's irrelevant). When ArP cap is reached, you can start gemming for Strength and Crit to catch socket bonuses from items.
